After a couple of hours in the car we arrived at the Simbavati Lodge in the Timbavati Game Reserve. We had a beer on the deck as we watched the sunset over the river. We were treated to a spectacular display of bushveld wildlife as we saw an elephant strolling around the parking lot, some kind of antelope wetting its whistle, and some monkeys chasing after their brethren who had stolen an apple from a fruit basket. Kris even spotted a crocodile in the river, with just its tiny little eye bump sticking out of the water.
All in all, a pretty great first day.
